Make me that 3D Windows UI

Sunday, February 13th, 2011
Basically you have those curved 3D layers which you navigate on the z-axis (into/out of the screen) and side-ways (left/right). The video below gives a rough idea what I’m talking about:

Demonstrates the generic layout and animations. Especially in the beginning when a layer is moving towards you.

And here’s a sketch further exploring it based on the concept of files and folders. But as you see in the video above everything (mainly display functionality for pictures, video, text files, documents) could be transformed into those 3D layers.

Future me, if you read this: did you learn to use DirectX and did create this?

Run

Monday, July 19th, 2010

You’re running into the rain. You run. You’re running into the darkness. You run and feel the rain dropping on your skin. You like it, you don’t care. You’re running, further, further into the darkness. You hear the wind bending the trees. You feel your clothes getting wet, soaking up with water. You feel the cold, the warmness getting soaked from your body. But you run. Faster. You have to run faster. You feel like the cold lets you fly, further, further into the darkness. You struggle, you can’t move on. But you do. You have to run. And you fly, you fall. You feel the tiny stones sting your back.

You watch the sky. The stars. The rain drops in your face. And you run. Further. Further into the darkness.

Du läufst

Saturday, July 17th, 2010

Weiter. Weiter in die Dunkelheit.

Borders, Nations, why?

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

So recently this situation came to my mind: I try to enter the United States through border control on an airport. They take me to the side and ask about my nationality. I answer: “Earth. I’m from earth.”

Consequently I thought why is it even necessary to have borders and nationalities anymore? Sure it makes sense to have some sort of regional politics, a local government custom tailored to the peoples needs in those regions. I see demands are different because of diverse geographical and social situations. But it makes no sense to have something like a border you can only pass by showing your passport. What harm would be done if you could move freely all over the world? Would it be so problematic if your enterprise could ship it’s goods all over the world easily, no such thing as taxes for crossing someones border involved?

And please don’t come with the “now terrorists can enter our country more easily”-argument… I didn’t say you should eliminate security scans, just the need to show where you’re from and dependent on this information you are granted access to a certain region of land. It’s just stupid. Please enlighten me, if I’m totally wrong here and fill in some arguments.

And if you wonder why I wrote this, I’m just a curious person.

Has anyone seen my new watch?

Saturday, January 2nd, 2010

So to follow up one of my older posts (which are very rare, I know), here is the new one (the old did not show up in time). It feels like high-end with it’s solar-powered battery and auto-illumination. But wait for it: it has a power saving mode which turns it off at nights if it’s dark enough, not kidding…
